NEWLY weds have told the joy of getting married after restrictions were eased after months of lockdown.
Louise and Lee Fisher became husband and wife on Saturday (July 4) after the government lifted the ban on weddings since lockdown began in March.
The Droitwich couple, who had planned to get hitched on May 25, said they wanted to get married “as soon as possible.” Twenty-five guests attended the wedding at the Salvation Army in Droitwich.
Mrs Fisher, aged 36, said: “We had the people closest to us there on the day. We were only able to have 25 guests, but this made it super special and intimate. We loved every moment and even held staggered social gatherings throughout the weekend at our house to celebrate the occasion. We feel very privileged to have married on the first official day after the restrictions had been lifted.”
Mr Fisher, aged 43, added: “We wanted to get married as soon as possible, so when we knew July 4 was going to be opened up again for weddings we couldn’t wait.
“Preparing for the wedding was interesting, we had to spread the chairs out a couple of meters apart.
“It was surreal as it looked so empty.
“It didn’t spoil it. It was a lovely wedding and a good day all things considered.
“It gave us all a lift that we needed.”
