A WORCESTER law firm has completed a year of fundraising for Worcestershire Royal Hospital's Neonatal Unit.

SME Solicitors, based in Sansome Walk, has donated £1,200 to the unit after 12 months of fundraising events including its annual corporate quiz, dress down days, bake-offs and a "guess the baby name" competition.

Ian Stirzaker, senior partner at SME Solicitors, said: "This charity is exceptionally close to our hearts as our colleague Yvonne Tivey’s little girl Lily was born 9 weeks prematurely.

"Yvonne and Lily were cared for in the Neonatal Unit by the amazing team at the Worcestershire Royal Hospital."

Yvonne Tivey added: “Lily was born prematurely weighing 2 pounds 6 ounces. She and I stayed in the Neonatal Unit and Lily eventually came home at 6 weeks old.

"She is now two years-old and is happy, healthy and full of beans. The staff at the Unit were incredible in every way. I am so happy that my colleagues and I were able to support them."

Neonatal Sister Sharon Ali said: "It was so much fun to be involved with a local fundraiser when Anya and I were invited to the bake off.

"The funds raised will go towards non-essential items that enhance the babies care. It is a privilege to care for babies like Lily. I have the best job in the world."
