PLANS for Eastgate Shopping Centre are moving forward as the community is being asked to share their views.

Development manager Sovereign Centros and Leslie Jones Architecture are bringing forward proposals to transform the shopping centre in the heart of Basildon, to form the new Eastgate Quarter.

The vision is to enhance the Eastgate Centre and the surrounding area with four new areas being explored - creating a place where people can live, work and play, in a place of fantastic homes, businesses and activities for all within green and public spaces.

These proposals need input from the people of Basildon and its broader community - which is crucial to the success of the town centre.

It is also an opportunity for the residents of the town and other local stakeholders to come forward to share their vision for the future.

To share feedback and understand the public's thoughts and views, a digital consultation on the proposals will be running until Friday August 14.

There will also be webinars taking place for residents and businesses who would like to receive a virtual presentation from the project team.

Graeme Jones, from Sovereign Centros, said: “We encourage the local community and residents of Basildon to take part in this virtual consultation to share their views on our proposals for the reinvigoration of the Eastgate Centre.

"We are wholly committed to delivering a scheme that the community has helped to shape and look forward to hearing their views.

“This is the start of an extensive planning process and we will continue to work with Basildon Council to ensure that our vision meets their needs for the future of Basildon."

The virtual consultation is now live and will run until Friday August 14, on www.eastgateconsultation.co.uk.
