TWO women were taken to hospital after a crash in Bridle Road in Wollaston which left the road closed to traffic on Monday evening.

West Midlands Ambulance Service sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene at 4pm after reports of collision involving a car and parked vehicle.

A witness told the News an elderly woman in a car got confused when a bus was coming towards her and she hit a parked car.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We treated two patients from the moving car, both women, for injuries not believed to be serious.

"They were taken to Russell’s Hall Hospital for further treatment.”

West Midlands Police also attended after being alerted by the ambulance service as a vehicle was blocking the road, and a police spokesman said: "The people inside were unable to get out because of a fault of some kind."

National Express’s bus service 8 was also diverted due to the closure of the road, between the A458 Bridgnorth Road and the B4537 Vicarage Road, which was later re-opened.
