ROAD closures in Upton have been slammed by a community figure who claims diversions were in place even after the work was completed.

Jackie Surtees, chairman of Upton in Bloom, took to social media to complain, saying: “Road closed signs [on] all entrances [to Upton], but nothing has happened.

“How much fuel wasted by drivers following diversions?”

However, a spokesman for Cadent Gas Limited said: “I can confirm we did some work over the weekend in Old Street, Upton-upon-Severn.

“We set up a diversion route - necessary to make sure our contractors could work safely in the road as well as to keep traffic flowing – albeit via a different route.

“We did the work, then removed the diversion.”

The tweet was published on August 16.
