THERE has been a small rise in the number of new cases of Covid-19 in Worcester.

The latest Public Health England (PHE) figures show Worcester had, during the week ending July 6, an infection rate of 5.9 cases per 100,000 people, up on 4 in the week before.

The PHE figures are based on tests that have been carried out both in laboratories and in the wider community, and provide the data for each local authority area.

Meanwhile Wychavon saw a significant drop from 10 to 3.9, Malvern Hills has dropped to 2.5 from 3.8, Bromsgrove saw a drop from 6 to 4, and Wyre Forest saw a rise to 7.9 from 4.9.

Redditch, that had raised concerns with 29.3 last week, was down to 14.1.

It should be noted that areas that have entered local lockdown had done so typically when cases were around 70 and higher.

Meanwhile for the second week in a row, there were no coronavirus related deaths in the entire county in the latest week for which data has been made available.

The latest Office of National Statistics (ONS) figures show there were no Covid-19 deaths of any county residents in any settings including hospital, care homes, a hospice, community establishment and elsewhere in the week ending August 21.

As there were no deaths this means that ONS data shows that in total 529 Worcestershire people, classed as having Covid-19, had died up to August 21.

They include:
