A BUSINESS man has been forced to shut his restaurant in Powick but says he has plans to build something even better for the local community.

Frankie Tsang, owner of Chinese restaurant the Four Seasons, on the Malvern Road, said he has been forced to shut due to Covid-19 and the changes it has brought with it.

However, the keen business man has a plan to adapt to the needs of the community.

Mr Tsang said: “It is sad to see my restaurant close, I have been in the industry for nearly 40 years and have owned the Four Seasons for 25.

“We have made this difficult decision for two reasons, the first being coronavirus. The pandemic has meant less people eating out and more people getting takeaway.

“Due to this, and the fact our restaurant is too small to allow social distance, we made the decision to shut, but we are still offering takeaway and we are still relying on the local community for their support with this.

“The second reason for closing is for a new venture which I believe will bring the community together. I have plans to extend the restaurant and create a pocket of small shops.

“This will hopefully include the Chinese takeaway, a convenience store/post office and a coffee and cake shop.

“There is nothing like this in Powick at the moment, and I feel it could really benefit from the provisions.

“There is a primary school nearby but nowhere to stop and have a coffee or grab a pint of milk. I am hoping to create a community hub for the people of Powick.

“This is my way of adapting and taking a new direction more suitable for the times we are living in.

“Of course I am sad to be saying goodbye to the restaurant, the Four Seasons is the longest running family Chinese restaurant in Worcester but this isn’t the end.

“It is the beginning.”

Mr Tsang hopes to have his shops up and running by next year. What do you think about his new plans?
