THE people of Worcester and south Worcestershire must love their flowers, because when we asked for recommendations of their top trader, easily one of the most popular responses was for florists.

So we make no excuses for featuring another creative-with-flowers this week in Leanne Priddey, the artistic trader behind DecadentLeaDone.

Based in Droitwich, Leanne is a freelance florist who has spent most of her life in and around flowers and this year – of all years – decided to set up her own business.

“After spending my childhood in my aunty’s florist shop to years of experience in a local florist near me, this year I took the plunge to set up DecadentLeaDone.

RAINBOW: Jars Of Joy, left on doorsteps with note during the lockdown

“I offer a more tailored, personalised service, and something a little different, I cover all aspects of floristry design specialising in large ‘Decadent’ bouquets, to rustic weddings and bespoke funeral work.

“Like everyone else, it’s been hard trying to deal with the coronavirus and I was sad to have to reschedule most of this year’s weddings for 12 months.

“But I was really please to have asked to be the recommended florist for another new local business – The Barn at Dinthill in Tenbury Wells.

“We have a wedding showcase and virtual tour this weekend and looking forward to a busy 2021.”

A Mother's Day request, handled just before lockdown

Leanne’s business has a strong online presence – much of the work coming her way is repeat requests from all over the country: “There’s a lady from Turkey who regularly orders most weeks for her family over here.

“I find most love the ease of ordering online, also that they receive a message once delivered or photos of the flowers they’ve sent, something you don’t always get.

“When the lockdown first hit, I hated not being able to create as much or that people were struggling to get hold of flowers.

“Luckily for me I use a local wholesaler – P&M flowers Worcester – and so I came up with the idea inspired by the children’s rainbow NHS pictures to make some ‘Rainbow Jars Of Joy’.

“These were jars of colourful flowers that could be left on doorsteps of keyworkers, family or friends, to say thank you or let them know they were thinking of them, people were even ordering them to cheer themselves up, and ran alongside the Thursday clap for carers.

“They proved a huge success and are still a popular request.

“I’d like to say thank you to each and everyone one of you for supporting me so far this year I get totally overwhelmed by kind messages or reviews.”

A typical example of one such customer is Hayley Grinnell: “I rang to place an order for my mother who is my nan’s carer then added another bouquet as the price was so affordable to send a bouquet to my daughter who had just had a baby.

“She accommodated both orders and both my mother and daughter cried when they got them.”

Leanne concluded: “I absolutely love what I do and put my all in to everyone, and seeing your faces when you receive them or your kind feedback is sometimes so overwhelming.”
