A PRIMARY school in Worcester is giving an iPad to every student and member of staff.

The Oasis Academy Warndon - part of the Oasis Community Learning family of schools - will be handing out the tablets to “enable students to conduct their own research” according to management.

More than 590 iPads with keyboard cases are being given out later this year, with more than 30,000 being handed out to Oasis Academies across the country.

Juliet Silverton, regional director for the Midlands at Oasis Community Learning, said: “Staff and students at Oasis Academy Warndon are delighted to be part of this exciting project that provides new opportunities for every one of our young people from Reception to Year 6.

“We are all incredibly passionate about all of our students having the opportunities that they deserve to make great progress.

“We are always looking for ways to continue innovating and the iPads are the next piece of the jigsaw, making online learning accessible to everyone, whether that is inside or outside of the academy.”

Every pupil will be taught how to use their iPad and how to look after it. If an iPad is reported missing it can be locked remotely and have its location tracked.

The Oasis Horizons project is a collaboration between Oasis Community Learning and Apple-authorised company Sync.
