A TRIBUTE page has been set up in honour of a nine-year-old girl who died after a brave battle with leukaemia. Lily Filmer died in the care of Acorns Children’s Hospice on September 5 after fighting acute lymphoblastic leukaemia that she was first diagnosed with at the age of five in 2017.

The family, from Drakes Broughton, have created a tribute page where donations can be made to support two local charities in honour of their “brave little lady.”

Kayleigh Chapman, Lily’s mum, shared a heartfelt post on Lilys Freedom Fight Facebook page: “I would say ‘my baby girl’ but she always had a go at me for calling her that. Even at the age of 9, she was my baby and will always be. Now my guardian angel and I know you’re watching over us and making sure I’m taking care of your brothers and sisters. I’m trying my best, for you!”

A private celebration of Lily’s life will take place on Monday, September 21 but supporters have been invited to line the route of her funeral procession.

The family said: “Lily touched so many hearts and although her family would love to share the celebration with you all, unfortunately the current restrictions have made this difficult. For those wishing to clap, cheer or blow a kiss to Lily on her final journey, she will travel along the following route: Lily will travel along Pershore High Street at 10am on her way towards her home. At 10.30am, Lily’s princess carriage will carry her into her home village, Drakes Broughton. She will pass her wonderful friends and teachers at school then along Walcot Lane to see the new park her brothers and sisters have been talking about, before she travels down Shrubbery Road. Lily and her family will then leave the village for their private service.”

The fundraising page will raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice and Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust. To donate, lilysfinaljourney.muchloved.com/TributePages/Contribute/
