WEST Midlands Railways has given a train a red traffic light meaning social distancing has reached capacity this morning.

The train, that left Stratford-Upon-Avon at 6.52am and is due to reach Worcester Foregate Street in the next few minutes (08:58), is the train given the red traffic light by the train operator.

West Midlands Trains runs the 'traffic light' system which lets passengers see how busy trains are as they run.

West Midlands Railway tweeted: “This train has been reported as reaching social distancing capacity.

"We are advising customers to delay their journeys or use an alternative service."

The West Midlands Railway website runs a traffic light system, where passengers can see how busy their train is.

The different colours represent the situation:

- Green means social distancing is working well, all trains running as planned.

- Amber means it is getting busy some services may not call at all stations or queuing systems may be in place, with the message "Delay your journey if you can".

- Red means it is very busy and some stations might close and long waits are likely. "Delay your journey or find another route" West Midlands Trains add.

- A yellow warning triangle means there’s major disruption and services will be significantly delayed.

West Midlands warn in that situation: "Please do not travel, you may not be able to complete your journey today. We’ll do all we can to avoid this."
