POLICE are appealing for information after a man was spotted with a knife in his hand in a Worcester suburb.

Officers were called to Perry Woods, near Ronkswood shortly after 8am after reports of a man wearing a mask and holding a bread knife.

Despite a search of the area, the man was not found and no further reports were received.

Police say the man had a mask with gold detailing on and had dyed blue hair. It is also believed he was wearing black clothes.

A video shared on social media shows several police cars descending on the car park to look for the man, with police saying he did not approach anyone.

Inspector Fergus Green said: "It was reported that a man was seen holding a bread knife in his hand before running off towards a footpath. He did not approach anyone and no threats were made.

"An extensive search was carried out of the local area this morning by officers but the man was not located and no further reports have been received.

"This was reported to us at a busy time of day when people would have been on their morning commute; if anyone else saw anything suspicious locally we would ask them to get in touch.

"We will increase our patrols in the local area to provide reassurance to the community."

Anyone who may have seen the man is asked to call 101 and quote incident number 0092 of September 23, 2020.
