Using Booking.com, we have found some of the most expensive and luxurious hotels in Cumbria with a four or five star rating.

“In the current climate, some travellers may wish to indulge a little more when it comes to their trips away- especially given that many of us have been booking trips closer to home in light of the current restrictions and therefore, saving money on other travel costs such as flights and transfers.
“Therefore, we may see people investing in more lavish accommodation than they would historically, and treating themselves to somewhere a bit higher in budget.”

Farlam Hall Hotel and Restaurant, Brampton
Rating: 4 stars
Price (based on dates for 26-4nd October): £189-£289 per night based on two guests sharing.
This traditional country house has a rustic and humble exterior- but five star luxury is waiting for you inside.
The two rosettes restaurant serves up top-quality food and all rooms have high ceilings and boast garden views.
The hotel has twelve bedrooms, each of which have been individually designed and built with your comfort in mind.
The Junior Suites ooze luxury, with large seating areas and elegant furniture.
A spokesperson for the company said: "In addition to our beautiful bedrooms and suites, four spectacular cottages are currently being restored within the hotel grounds.
"Once complete guests will be able to combine the luxurious perks of our stunning hotel with the privacy and independence of their own opulent holiday cottage."
Crown Hotel Wetheral, Carlisle
Rating: 4 stars
Price (based on dates for 26th September-4nd October): £59-£174 per night
Fancy a luxury hotel with top-quality leisure facilities?
This hotel has a 10 yard pool and even squash courts to try out.
If you don’t feel like being active, there is also a sauna and steam room to melt your worries away.
The hotel was refurbished in 2019 and has a total of 61 bedrooms for guests to choose from- each of which is uniquely designed with thoughtful extra touches.
If you’re hoping for a truly luxurious stay, then you need to look into the Warwickholme Suite; this suite has a spacious separate lounge with a 3D tv, as well as a luxury spa bath to relax in.
The Crown is another luxury suite in the hotel which is said to offer “traditional charm” while still having modern facilities.
This room features a double bed as well as a lounge area with a fireplace to huddle up next to.

The Sally, Carlisle
Rating: Five stars
Price (based on dates for 26-27th September): £88-£110
The Sally is a family run business close to Hadrian’s Wall and Carlisle Airport.
They pride themselves on going the extra mile to please their guests and create rooms with character and personality- they even have a pillow menu to ensure guests have a comfortable stay.
Irthing is one of the hotel’s Superking Rooms and it is described as “spacious” and “airy” room.
The bed’s mattress is posturepedic and the bedding is made from Egyptian cotton.
Blinds are custom made and cleverly designed to prevent bugs and midges from entering your room and disrupting your sleep.
The Castle Inn Hotel by BW Signature Collection, Keswick
Rating: Four stars

Originally a coaching inn which dates back to the 1700s, this venue has since been modernised into a luxurious four star venue.
It boasts great views of Bassenthwaite Lake and it even has a pool, sauna, tennis court and games room.
Their suite is one of the larger rooms in the hotel and it comes with two single beds. Alternatively, you can plump for the stunning superior double room which comes with a four poster bed which will make you feel like royalty.
Best of all, this hotel accepts dogs and you can bring your four-legged friend to stay for just £10 per dog per night.
Pentonbridge Inn, Carlisle
Rating: Four stars

Looking for a bed and breakfast with a touch of luxury and charm?
The Pentonbridge Inn has nine beautifully decorated rooms named after a Border Reivers clan- most of the rooms have views of the beautiful Cumbrian countryside.
The inn's interiors have been designed with the rural landscape in mind, combining wood, slate and tweed. Fresh flowers and fluffy towels will be available on arrival.
