THE Labour candidate at the last general election has said criticism of party leader Keir Starmer’s stance in the pandemic has been wrong.
Following his leadership speech to the party faithful and a television address last night, some have criticised the Labour leader’s “constructive opposition” for not going far enough.
In his party conference speech broadcast online, addressing that point, the leader said: “The British people want the government to succeed in fighting this virus. We all need the government to succeed.”

Lynn Denham, (pictured with Sir Keir) who stood for election to the city seat last year, said: “The government has failed on (for example), test and trace.
"But it is a national emergency. To get us out of it needs a collective effort involving everyone.
"Criticism for the sake of it, isn’t going to get us out of it.
“The party is listening to what people are saying, the reality of people’s lives in this pandemic.”
