WORCESTER Warriors bosses have given a stark warning.

Covid-19 restrictions, specifically the loss of income of having no crowds and loss of sponsorship that has resulted from it, has put the future of the club in danger.

You don't need me to tell you it would be a tragedy if Worcester lost its Premiership team.

It is a club full of history, founded in 1871. The memories for fans, the income to the local economy and the prestige having the club gives the Faithful City, all could be lost forever.

Because be in no doubt, once a sports club disappears, it's very difficult for it to return.

Some will also think other sectors should be prioritised over sport, maybe wrongly getting the elite of football mixed up with rugby union.

A Premiership rugby team is in a completely different position from a premier league team.

For example Wolves in Premier League football with the television broadcast revenue they receive ensures they have a future.

So everything that can be done should be. The government needs to step in and support clubs like Warriors.
