Two cases of coronavirus had been confirmed at Heart of Worcestershire College.

Headteacher Andrew Richards, from Grimley and Holt C of E Primary School, said parents have been anxious after a cold is going around the school.

Mr Richards said: “We've been lucky. Our main issue has been that there is a cold going around and this is raising parents anxiety. A cold is likely to come with a new cough or a raised temperature. Obviously, they don't want to be responsible for potentially spreading Covid-19, and they are erring on the side of caution.”

Kate Brunt, chief executive of the The Rivers C of E Academy Trust which runs 11 schools in Worcestershire, said: “We are following the very strict guidelines given to us by public health.

“We haven’t had to send anyone home from any of our schools following a positive test carried out in our schools.”

Principal of Tudor Grange Academy Worcester, David Butle, said: “We are very grateful to our parents for our teamwork between school and home.

“Our parents are following government guidance carefully and helping us to protect our community. All isolations are communicated with home and school. We have no positive cases in school.”

Bryony Baynes, headteacher at Kempsey Primary School, said: “We’ve not had any positive tests nor any children sent home after a positive test. We have a couple awaiting test results but, at the moment, all is good so fingers crossed.”
