A COMPETITION to find the finest food recipes made from Worcestershire produce has been launched.

The Worcestershire Produce Recipe Competition is part of the Make It Worcestershire campaign which is a campaign designed to promote the county’s growers and food and drink producers and to encourage people to buy local.

Competition winners will see their recipes appear on the menu at one of Worcestershire top restaurants.

The campaign and the competition is being organised by One Worcestershire in partnership with Worcestershire Food and Drink.

Nick Hodgetts, chair of Worcestershire Food and Drink, said: “We are delighted to be involved in Make It Worcestershire and the ‘Worcestershire Produce Recipe Competition’.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to have some fun, be creative and give Worcestershire’s food and drink a much-deserved celebration.

"Yorkshire has its puddings and Cornwall has its pasty, I’m really looking forward to seeing what Worcestershire can create to rival those.”

Make It Worcestershire was launched in the summer to provide much-needed support to the county’s Food and Drink industry which, like many other sectors, has been hugely impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Worcestershire County Councillor Ken Pollock, cabinet member with responsibility for economy and infrastructure is getting behind the campaign: “Make It Worcestershire is an incredibly important campaign for Worcestershire’s food and drink sector. We are very fortunate to have such a bountiful selection of high-quality local produce here in Worcestershire, something which must be celebrated, particularly at present.

“Let’s give Worcestershire’s Food and Drink Industry a much-needed boost by celebrating together through this competition.”
