A MAN admitted assault and criminal damage when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court.

Dean Allen, of Hopyard Coppice, Worcester, admitted the assault of the victim occasioning them actual bodily harm in an incident that took place on June 12 at a city address.

The 33-year-old also pleaded guilty to damaging a Dacia Sandero intending to destroy or damage the property, on the same date.

Allen denied a third charge of assault by beating of another victim, also on the same date when he appeared at the court on October 1.

When asked by the chairman of the magistrates bench, Gareth Thomas, the grounds on which Allen denied that charge his solicitor Mark Turnbull said he was arguing it was self defence.

Allen was given unconditional bail until his trial which was scheduled for Redditch Magistrates Court, to take place on November 27.

Meanwhile a number of other cases had to be adjourned due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In court results sent out by Worcester Magistrates Court, a number of cases carried the message: “It has been necessary to adjourn your case given the exceptional circumstances that have arisen from the Covid-19 virus.

“This adjournment will help reduce the number of people that are having to attend the court and enable urgent and priority cases to proceed in the meantime.”

The case of Marius Albu, of Wildwood, Telford was among those affected.

The 31-year-old is accused of failing to, when requested by a police officer in Droitwich on June 23, give information on the driver of a BMW who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

The case was adjourned until October 29.

Rory Ashcroft case also did not proceed.

The 25-year-old, of Weeping Cross, Stafford, is accused of failing to, when requested by a police officer in Droitwich on March 9, give information on the driver of a Ford who was alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Ashcroft is also accused of driving a Ford at a speed exceeding 30mph on Haybridge Road, Telford, on January 31.

That case was adjourned until October 29.
