A MEMBER of staff at a school in the city has tested positive for Covid-19.

David Butler, principal at Tudor Grange Academy Worcester in Bilford Road, said: "We have been alerted to a positive case of Covid-19 in a member of our staff who contacted the academy to say that she had tested positive.

"The member of staff was required to have a test after coming into contact outside of school with someone who tested positive."

The school say the infected member of staff has not been in school since Tuesday [October 13] and will remain isolated based on Government guidelines.

The spokesman added: "We immediately followed our procedures and identified people this member of staff had been in closest contact with.

"The relevant students and staff affected have been asked to isolate at home for 14 days, as per Government guidelines.

"Our robust procedures have ensured that the numbers impacted are minimal.

"We will continue to provide support to all these students and will provide remote learning for them.

"This is a process that many schools will encounter and adapt to over the coming months and we have been very impressed by how students, parents and staff have responded so positively during this time."

According to the school's website, it has capacity for 1130, including a sixth form with 200.
