A MAN with connections to Worcester who assaulted a police officer during his arrest is set to be sentenced today.

Jerraldo Collins is scheduled to appear before Judge Martin Jackson today at Worcester Crown Court for what is listed as a sentencing hearing.

We reported last month how the 31-year-old, who has links to Worcester, Kidderminster and Droitwich, was thought to have been in Scotland but was arrested by West Mercia Police.

When police found him and subsequently placed Collins under arrest he assaulted an officer.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said at the time: “Thank you for your help in searching for wanted man Jerraldo Collins. A 31-year-old man has been arrested for breach of court bail conditions and assaulting an emergency worker during the arrest and is in custody.”

Jamie Wells and Nathan Woodage are also due to be sentenced in the same court. In a separate case co-defendants Remus Turturica and Marius Nitu are listed for sentence.

A Romanian interpreter has been booked to assist the court.

In court one the trial of a prisoner accused of attacking eight prison officers at two prisons - Long Lartin and Bristol - continues. He is accused of using two improvised weapons in the alleged attacks.
