TODAY at Worcester Crown Court the trial of Daniel Matthews continues.

Matthews denies assaults on eight prison officers at HMP Long Lartin and HMP Bristol.

The court heard last week that the 28-year-old had threatened to go on a 'killing spree' at one of the prisons, and stands accused of wounding prison officers with improvised weapons in bloody attacks.

In the afternoon in court 1 a number of case are listed for mention. They involve Connor Kendall, Mark Kendall, Kaiser Hussain, Edward Scrieciu, Thomas Packwood, Mateusz Bardzel, Paul Capuvanno, Zack Crowe and Kyle Hutchinson.

None of these cases require the defendant and counsel.

Elsewhere at Worcester Crown Court Paul Underhill is scheduled to appear first at court two for a plea and trial preparation hearing, Ian Forrester is listed to appear second, while Sorincostel Iorga is set to appear for a pre trial review after 11am.

Not all the cases that appear on the list would be of limited interest to the public or press. They include bail applications, administrative hearings and mentions.

One of the courts is remote which means parties including barristers and defendants appear over videolink rather than in person.
