ASDA in Worcester has shut its clothing and home department for two weeks, for a major refurbishment.

The closure is for an expansion of George clothing and homeware.

The George section of Asda was shut off to customers on Friday and will not be re-opening until November 6.

A spokesman for Asda said: "Asda Worcester is set to receive a new George Home offer that will include an extended range of George homeware and a new look George clothing department.

"Improvement work started last Friday at the Silver Street superstore and will complete on 6 November.

"New clothing mannequins, fixtures and digital screens featuring the latest trends are among the changes customers can expect to see.

"One of the most eagerly anticipated changes is the extension of the existing George home range, which will gain an additional aisle and bring a range of cushions, candles and bedding products to the store.

"The George refurbishment will see the this section of the store given its largest makeover in eight years.

Rukia Hussain, Asda Worcester Store Manager, said: “We’re excited to announce that we’re receiving an update to our George clothing and homeware departments that will bring new products and technology to the store.

“We know that both the extended George home range and the new look and feel of our George department will prove popular with our customers and we can’t wait to unveil it.”

The supermarket is still open to customers for groceries and other items not in the George range.

In other national supermarket news, Tesco made headlines this week after mistakenly preventing customers from buying sanitary products as part of new lockdown measures in Wales.
