TRIBUTES have been pouring in from the community for the vital work Malvern Hills District Council binmen do, working throughout lockdown looking after household rubbish.

Residents have taken to posting on 'Malvern Hills Display Board (UK)' Facebook page to offer their support.

Jess Depper said: “Awesome job done by the team, all collections taken without fail - we would love to thank them in person, but they are always collecting really early in the morning and we never cross paths!

Jacqui Tompkin said: “Thank you to all the bin men for doing a fantastic job during these awful times you are very much appreciated.”

Katt Peters Calhoun said: “The bin men have been utterly amazing. Always got a dog treat for my husky all ways give her some fuss as they take my rubbish. Will be putting a little treat out closer to Xmas to say thanks for being awesome.”

Lisa Campbell said: “They have been fantastic always leave a drink out for them especially during the summer a very big thank you.”

Melanie Butcher said: “They do an amazing job.”

Lee Card said: “Thank you so much.”

Charlene Harling said: “I’ve never had an issue with the bin men, pandemic or not. They come every week do their job well and go. Amazing really.”

A councillor for Malvern Hills District Council who are responsible for the service, said he “extremely proud” of the crews who go “above and beyond” to serve the residents.

Cllr John Raine, portfolio holder for environmental services at Malvern Hills District Council, said: “We are extremely proud of our waste and recycling crews who have gone above and beyond to continue to deliver a great service to residents across the district.

“They have shown unwavering dedication to their work during such a difficult time.

“During the pandemic, we have been able to maintain our usual collection services and we will aim to continue.”
