REGENCY High School commemorated Remembrance Day in a very special way this year.

Due to Covid restrictions, the school was unable to hold its normal Remembrance Service, so had the idea of decorating Poppy crosses and planting them out in-front of school for visitors and pupils to view.

Each class initially watched a special powerpoint created by Tracey Hodgkins, lead teacher for Humanities, which linked into the Royal British Legion’s official school’s assembly.

As well as numerous other Remembrance and poppy activities, each pupil then decorated their own RBL Remembrance Cross and went and planted them in the flower beds at the front of school.

Mrs Hodgkins said: "The respect and enthusiasm shown by all the pupils in school was heart warming. The words, messages and designs on the different crosses are very poignant.

"Respect, understanding and tolerance are vital in today’s society and these are key concepts that our pupils are taught."
