A TELEPHONE box belonging to care company in Powick has been been vandalised twice in recent months.

Crossroads Caring for Carers, who provide care and support to people living in their own homes, own the telephone box which is used as the charity's information point.

It is located near the traffic lights in the centre of Powick.

Someone smashed two of the glass panels and destroyed information leaflets.

Roger Garland (chief officer) said “Why anyone would wish to damage our charity’s Information Point is simply baffling. "Our thanks to the member of the public who alerted us to the most recent damage. We are considering placing CCTV cameras in the vicinity, but this is an extra expense our charity could do without.”

Care manager Helen Simmons said: “As if we haven’t got enough to do with keeping people safe during the coronavirus pandemic.

"I can’t remember Boris saying damaging our phone box was one of the activities people were permitted to undertake during lockdown.

"Our thanks to Glyn Cotterill (Painting and Decorating Services) who not only lovingly restored the phone box when we first took it over, but also for clearing the broken glass away and repairing the damage caused by mindless vandals.”
