HUNDREDS of readers took to Facebook to support a Worcester couple who are taking a stand against Euro Car Parks.

Michael and Sue Warner received a fine from the car park company saying they had overstayed the two hour limit whilst visiting The Range in Hylton Road, St John’s.

However, the pair say they did not overstay the limit but in fact returned to the car park on two separate occasions on the same day.

Mr Warner, 65, said: “I am really angry. I was gobsmacked when the fine came through. They wanted me to pay £100 and I thought there is no way I am paying that. We know we haven’t done anything wrong."

The couple have been commended for standing up to the car park giants as many come forward to share their own stories of being 'unjustly' fined.

Alex Watto said: "I had one too. It's absolute joke! It puts you off shopping at the Range. Keep fighting it. The signage is really bad."

Aimee Elizabeth said: "I’ve had one too, I got it through the post on Saturday morning. I have appealed as I was in my car at the correct time, but I was queuing in a grid locked car park for over 20 minutes which meant by the time I exited the reader caught my plate as late.

"I also will not be paying this fine and will fight along side anyone else who has had these awful experiences with Euro Car Parks."

Matthew JayKay said: "I had this. I had a receipt and everything but the grubby company said I still had to pay because I hadn't entered my car details!"

Lea-ann Cocks said: "I've got a fine from them as well from the first lockdown. I went and did my shopping at Aldi, queued for ages, stayed in my own box while shopping.

"I was 16 minutes over the free parking, I didn't even realise I just wanted to get home, the whole shopping experience was so stressful. I appealed the fine with all my evidence and they say I still have to pay!"

In response to the 250 comments Mr Warner said: "Thanks for all the positive comments and support. The main point is people are being fined for something they are not guilty of. This company and the ombudsman need exposing for what they really are, a bunch of crooks."

When Worcester News approached Euro Car Parks about the complaints, we did not get a response.
