A TRUCK driver had to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in a flooded ford.

The Nisa truck has been stuck on Walcot Lane Ford in Drakes Broughton since the rescue on Friday morning.

A local resident claims the truck has been 'looted several times since then.'

A spokesman for The Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called on Friday 4 December at 07:52 to Walcot Lane Ford. Water rescue teams assisted police to rescue one male trapped in his 12.5 tonne lorry in 5ft of flood water using a water rescue sled . The vehicle is awaiting recovery and the road is closed."

A spokeswoman for Nisa said: "We are aware of the incident and are currently waiting for notification that it is safe to recover the vehicle. Nobody was injured and the diesel tanks remain sealed.

"Meanwhile an internal investigation is underway to determine what happened."
