OUR readers have responded to a question we posed on how they will spend New Year’s Eve under Covid-19 restrictions.

Celebration will be different this year as we are in Tier 3 restrictions.

Some people have planned virtual celebrations over the internet using live video.

Gillian Bullock said: “Staying home as usual and having nibbles with my two kids.”

Sarah Louise Anderson said: “Just me, my husband and his mum -who is in our support bubble - will have a few drinks and nibbles.”

Paul Farmer said: “Sat at home with my wife and dogs watching Netflix waiting for the fireworks to start up and try to keep our dogs from going into meltdown as they don’t like them.”

Emily Smith said: “Bed at 10pm, unless I get really engrossed in my cross-stitch.”

Lynne Leith said: “We’re not doing anything, bottle of champagne at midnight is about it to celebrate getting rid of this year.”

Viv Williams said: “Staying in play board games with the kids drink and eat.”

Sandie Kettle said: “Zoom party. with canapés and fizz to start then a break for dinner then games till midnight. All dressed in black tie and evening dress.”

Hayley MacDonald said: “It’s our daughters 3rd birthday so having as much fun at home as possible - trying to find a decent Chinese that is open.”

Karen Smith Arthur said: “Working 15 hour until 0pm then working again at 7am New Year’s Day.

Mike McChrystal said: “I’m at work at 6am on New Year’s Day so not much at all.”

A special broadcast on BBC One will be screened looking back at 2020 as people are urged to stay home and not gather in public spaces.
