THE site of a former village garage that has lain derelict for more than 20 years could soon be turned into homes under new plans.

Owl Homes has revealed plans to build another 13 homes - a mix of two-bed bungalows and two-and-three-bed homes - on the site of Woodview Garage off Worcester Road in Upton Snodsbury - adding to nine homes that have already been approved.

Wychavon District Council's planning committee meets later today (January 7) with a recommendation from council planning officers that the plan is approved.

The developer had plans to demolish the former garage and cottage in the village near Worcester and build nine homes approved by Wychavon District Council planners in November 2019.

New plans ask for permission to build more homes on land to the rear and requests have been made to update the village park as well as build a new crossing.

Upton Snodsbury Parish Council has asked for money from the developer to build a new crossing near to the homes after raising concerns about regular speeding on the busy main road.

The parish council has also asked if a new crossing could be provided across the A422 over concerns about speeding on the busy main road.

Upton Snodsbury Park Recreation Association has also asked for some money to replace a rotting swing, buy some new equipment as well as erect a new fence.

A report, which sets out the recommendation of approval from the district council's planning officers, said: "As well as making a contribution to the supply of market housing in the district the development would also contribute towards meeting needs for affordable housing and housing for older people, without undue effects on neighbours or the environment."

The planning committee meets from 2pm today.
