A MAN is spending lockdown in training for a charity he has supported all his life.

Harry Ingham is putting the passion for running he found in the first lockdown to good use by setting himself the goal of running a half marathon on March 13 to raise money for Acorns Children’s Hospice.

The 23-year-old, who lives in St Peters, said: “My first volunteering job was at the Acorn’s charity shop in Worcester, I live round the corner from them, and I’m set to do a placement there as part of my course studying for a masters in physiotherapy at the University of Birmingham.

“One of the positives to come out of the pandemic is my new passion for running so I have set myself a big goal.

“Acorns Children’s Hospice truly provides fantastic and specialist palliative care, so the fundraising target I have given myself is £1,000.

“I have started a 10 week programme, and will do the run in Worcester on Saturday, March 13.

“I’ve put a shout out that if anyone sees me out and about give me a beep - that’s all motivating for me.

“When you are on these long runs it can be tough, especially on the cold mornings.”

Mr Ingham, who also runs his own Broomhall-based business ‘Harry Ingham Sports Therapy’, said he has was also set to support children with special education needs at Nunnery Wood High School this year.
