WORCESTER'S infection rate continues to be the highest in the county with the latest figures showing the city recorded more than 700 coronavirus cases in the latest week.

Worcester's infection rate in the week up to January 5 was 697.5 cases per 100,000 people with 706 cases recorded - a rise of 121 per cent on the previous week.

Public Health England figures show the city's infection rate had reached 721.2 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 4 - more than double what it was a week earlier.

Worcestershire's infection rate in the week up to January 5 was 543.5 cases per 100,000 people rising by 88 per cent on the previous week's figures.

A total of 3,238 positive cases were recorded in Worcestershire in the week up to January 5.

The second highest infection rate in the county was in Bromsgrove at 673.8 cases per 100,000 people.

Wychavon's infection rate was 479.8 cases per 100,000 people and Malvern's infection rate was 292.3 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 621 cases were recorded in Wychavon in the week and 230 cases were recorded in Malvern.

Redditch's infection rate was 590 cases per 100,000 people with 503 cases recorded.

Wyre Forest's infection rate was 498.6 cases per 100,000 people with 505 cases recorded.
