THERE were no new Covid-related deaths recorded in Worcestershire's hospitals on a day the life of a 26-year-old was claimed by the virus.

The UK total hit 81,960 since the pandemic began after 489 deaths were reported in the 24-hour period up to 4pm on Sunday, January 10.

The deaths recorded today (Monday, January 11) occurred between November 25 and January 10 and included a 26-year-old with no known underlying health conditions.

The total number of deaths at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS trust remains at 473 with the number of deaths in the Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust staying at 44.

In total, there have been 517 Covid-19 deaths in county hospitals. The total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 56,069.

The Acute Hospitals Trust covers Worcestershire Royal Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital as well as the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch and Kidderminster Hospital.

The Health and Care NHS trust covers community hospitals and rehabilitation wards, including Worcester City Impatient Unit, Malvern Community Hospital, Evesham Community Hospital, Pershore Community Hospital, the Princess of Wales Community Hospital in Bromsgrove, Tenbury Community Hospital and the Wyre Forest Ward.
