THE Farmers' Market in Malvern has been cancelled until further notice after the second lockdown came into effect.

Following a rise in coronavirus cases, Malvern Hills District Council leader Cllr Sarah Rouse confirmed the Great Malvern Farmers' Market, next set to be held on January 16, has been cancelled until at least February.

She said: "It is more important than ever to stay at home and follow Government guidelines to stop the spread of coronavirus.

"It is a shame the farmers’ market has been cancelled but residents can still support local businesses by taking advantage of the delivery services on offer, a list can be found here: www.malvernhills.gov.uk/community/town-centres.

"We can get through this if we pull together, by sadly, staying apart for just a little while longer."

The farmers' market is usually held on the third Saturday of the month.

This month, it was due to be held in its winter location, the Lyttleton Rooms in Church Street.

During the other seasons, the market is held outside Great Malvern Priory.

Boffy Markets Ltd, which runs the market, will be working with the district council and is set to "reassess the situation" in February.
