THE city's coronavirus infection rate remains the highest in the county according to the latest figures.

Worcester's infection rate was 750.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 7 - the highest it has ever been in the city.

A total of 760 cases were recorded in the city in the week and the infection rate increased by 88 per cent on the previous week.

The infection rate puts it on a similar level to some parts of London including the boroughs of Wandsworth and Hammersmith and Fulham as well as Brighton and Hove and Reading.

The rate in Worcester is also higher than Blackburn with Darwen.

Worcestershire's infection rate was 557.4 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 7 - also the highest it has ever been.

A total of 3,321 cases were recorded in the week according to Public Health England.

Bromsgrove's infection rate was 676.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 6 with 676 cases recorded in the week.

Wyre Forest's infection rate was 480.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 7.

A total of 487 cases were recorded in the week.

Wychavon's infection rate was 502.2 cases per 100,000 people in the same week.

A total of 650 cases were recorded.

Redditch's infection rate was 600.5 cases per 100,000 people with 512 cases recorded.

The infection rate in Malvern Hills was 299.9 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 236 cases were recorded in the week up to January 7.

According to Public Health England figures, a total of 432 people were reported as testing positive for coronavirus in Worcestershire on January 12.

Of those, a total of 91 people had tested positive for coronavirus in Worcester.
