A NUMBER of businesses have been fined for the offence of failing, when asked by police, to give information on the identity of a driver alleged to have been guilty of an offence.

Guru Midland Motors were asked in Droitwich on October 16 to provide the information related to the driver of a BMW, but failed to do so, magistrates heard.

No one from the firm was present at Worcester Magistrates Court when the case was heard on January 6, so the offence was proved in absence.

The firm, of Vicarage Road, Halesowen, was fined £660, and told to pay a victim surcharge of £66, and court costs of £110.

The total, £836, has to be paid in full by February 3.

Malkin Motors was also proved in absence to have committed the same offence, also in Droitwich, on July 22.

Information was not provided on the identity of a driver of a Mercedes, the court heard.

The firm, of Tident Place, Hatfield, was also fined £660, and told to pay a victim surcharge of £66 and costs of £110, by February 3.

Simply the Best Valeting was also proved in absence to have committed the offence.

The firm failed in Hindlip, on November 3, to provide information on the identity of the driver of an Audi A4, alleged to have committed an offence.

The firm was ordered to pay the same fine, court costs and victim surcharge, and must also pay the total of £836 by February 3.

Also at the court Timur Buzarevic, of Glasgow Street, Northampton, was given a driving ban and fined for speeding in Evesham.

The court heard the 46-year-old had driven a Mercedes on the A46 Evesham bypass at 60 mph, which is above the speed limit for that road.

Buzarevic was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for six month, due to repeat offending.

He was also fined £60, and told to pay a victim surcharge of £32 and costs of £110.

The total, £202, needs to be paid in full by February 3.
