WHEN Worcester Warriors fan Adam Law heard about the fate that befell rugby star Rob Burrow he decided to try to put his charity hat on and step out, literally, right through December.

The former Leeds Rhinos scrum-half Rob Burrow, who was appointed MBE in the New Year Honours list, was diagnosed in 2019 with motor neurone disease, the degenerative and life-limiting condition.

Adam, a keen rugby player who lives in Worcester, had already decided to do his bit to raise money to help in tackling the disease.

He said: “I decided to challenge myself to run every day in December, at least 5k each day, including Christmas Day, in all winds, rain and snow – and I managed it.”

He was joined friends, who accompanied him on some of his runs.

And he not only reached his £150 fundraising target – he smashed it.

Proud mum-in-law Julie James said: “We are all very proud of our Adam. Adam so far as raised over £1,000! Well done for all your effort and hard work, even going out on Christmas morning.”

The 38-year-old former Leeds Rhino Burrow has spoken of how he hopes that his MBE will give comfort to fellow motor neurone disease sufferers and reassure them that their plight will not be ignored.

He said: “It is truly humbling to be awarded an MBE and I would like to thank everyone who has made this possible.

“2020 has taught us all to appreciate the gifts we have and it is my honour and privilege to accept this award on behalf of all the MND community.”
