STUDENTS from a Worcester school have made an impressive contribution to the city Foodbank.

Bishop Perowne CE College students donated more than 2,500 food items, as well as £50 in donations, to the Worcester Foodbank as part of the school’s Christmas Canned Food Drive.

Taking place between 30 November and 16 December, students from all year groups were invited to donate non-perishable items. Teachers and students got behind the appeal with one form group donating a fantastic 355 items between them.

Erin Butler, Lead Practitioner for Mathematics at Bishop Perowne, organised the appeal. She said: “Our Canned Food Drive encouraged everyone to think of others in the lead up to the festive period and it was wonderful to see the Bishop Perowne community come together to support a worthy cause.

"Thank you to all students and their families who donated. With the recent government announcement, it’s likely the Worcester Food Bank will be called upon to support more people in our community and we’re pleased our donations will be able to help.”
