A PLAN to build up to 45 homes in Ombersley has been put forward.

The plan by developer Spitfire Homes would see a mix of homes built on agricultural land north of Woodhall Lane in the village and near to the busy A449.

The existing Faber Cottage and a number of outbuildings on the land would be demolished to make way for the new homes.

The developer said the plan contains a mix of one-to-four bed houses and includes 17 affordable homes.

A total of 94 parking spaces would be provided across the 45 homes.

A statement included with the application said: “The design team has carried out a thorough analysis of the site constraints and consulted with the various authorities to provide a development layout appropriate for the location within Ombersley.

“This application is therefore representative of these matters and seeks to provide a sensitive development that has clear references to the village of Ombersley.

“It provides a strong landscape structure with accessible and usable green space, a clear street hierarchy of connected streets and spaces and is respectful of its relationship with existing homes and landscape features within and adjacent to the site.

“Consideration has also been given to the draft Ombersley and Doverdale Neighbourhood Plan.

"A pedestrian link between Woodhall Lane and Holly Lane has been provided, thereby improving the permeability of this part of the village.

“The scheme provides a substantial area of green infrastructure, providing a thoughtfully laid out area of landscaping at the site frontage, filtering the visual impact of the development from the east.

“This will also create a new area of green space within the site, allowing space for new habitats and natural play, enhancing further the social and environmental benefits of the proposal.”

The application can be viewed via the planning section of Wychavon District Council's website. The application number is 20/02916/FUL. Public consultation ends on February 11.
