WORCESTER'S coronavirus infection rate remains the highest in the county according to the latest figures.

The city's rate was 741.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 10 with 751 cases recorded during the week.

The rate in the city increased by almost a quarter in a week according to Public Health England.

Worcester's rate fell slightly from 814.1 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 8 - the highest figure it has ever been in the city since the pandemic started.

Worcestershire's infection rate was 556.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 10 with 3,318 cases recorded in the week.

The rate in Worcestershire increased by 17.5 per cent on a week earlier according to the figures.

Wychavon's infection rate was 526.1 cases per 100,000 people in the same week with 681 cases recorded.

The infection rate in Malvern Hills was 310 cases per 100,000 people with 244 cases recorded in the week up to January 10.

Bromsgrove's infection rate was 623.7 cases per 100,000 people and remained Worcestershire's second highest.

A total of 623 cases were recorded in the week.

Redditch's infection rate was 618.1 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 10. A total of 527 cases were recorded.

Wyre Forest's infection rate was 485.7 cases per 100,000 people with 492 cases recorded.
