AS we all know, the coronavirus pandemic has brought huge logistical problems in all walks of life, not least schools, which has required heads, staff, parents and students to come up with some lateral thinking to solve.

Tudor Grange Academy in Bilford Road was faced with the headache of reuniting students with their books, but found a successful way around the issue – a drive-thru, where more than 1,000 parents were able to collect their children’s books.

A school spokesman said: “This was a mammoth task in terms of logistics and hard work but was hugely successful.

“The books were arranged alphabetically in year groups in the sports hall and parents were given time slots to drive round the car park and pull up by the hall to be given their exercise and text books.

“Support from parents was fantastic and the sports hall is nearly empty and back in use!”

“Parents were equally pleased: ‘My husband came and collected my son’s books today. He said it went like a dream. Very well organised. Very friendly and polite. Spot on! Well done – please feel free to share with staff who have worked so hard to make it work ‘

‘Please would you pass on our thanks for the most organised book collection ever..”

Thanks to the staff stood out in the cold.

‘Thanks for the teachers having everything ready.’”
