GAS works in Worcester next month will see the closure of a bus lane heading into the city centre.

Contractors Balfour Beatty will be carrying out the work in the bus lane between the junctions of Pierpoint Street and Sansome Street, with work expected to last just over a week when it begins on Friday, February 5.

Diversions will be put in place along Sansome Street, St Nicholas Street and The Foregate, while there will be no left turn for traffic from Shaw Street, with diversions put in place.

And several roads in and around Worcester will be affected by road closures coming into effect this week.

Hallow Lane in Lower Broadheath will be affected from today (Monday, January 18), the road being closed from its junction with Martley Road to its junction with A443 Main Road to allow Worcestershire County Council to carry out carriageway repairs.

Diversions will be in place via the A443 Main Road, A443 Hallow Road and B4204 Martley Road and vice-versa.

Work is expected to last 19 days.

Station Road in Powick will also be closed as from today (Monday), from its junction with Chapel Lane to its junction with Colletts Green for roadworks by the county council. Diversions will be in place for the work, which is expected to last just under three weeks.

Severn Trent will be carrying out work on water mains in Rowley Hill Street in Worcester from today (Monday) which will mean a partial road closure.

The road will be shut from the junction with McIntyre Road to its junction with Buck Street.

Work is expected to last until the end of the week.

Elbury Park Road is to see a partial road closure from its junction with Tolladine Road to its junction with Ambleside Drive.

The closure, to allow Worcestershire County Council to carry out footpath work, begins on Monday, January 25, and is expected to last approximately five weeks.

Next month, there will also be a partial closure of Hanbury Park Road to allow resurfacing work to be carried out, with work expected to last for just under three weeks.

The road will be closed as from Tuesday, February 9, from its junction with Bransford Road to its junction with Malvern Road, with diversions put in place.

And there are also plans in place for a month-long closure of part of Northwick Road in February to allow for gas mains work by Balfour Beatty.

The road will be shut from its junction with Northwick Avenue to its junction with Union Place from Monday, February 8. Diversions will be in place via Sabrina Avenue and Northwick Avenue for the work, which is expected to last 29 days.

Footpath repairs in Lansdowne Walk scheduled for next month will also see a temporary closure from its junction with Lansdowne Crescent and its junction with Lansdowne Crescent Lane. Work begins on Monday, February, 8, and is set to last five days.
