MALVERN pop singer Cher Lloyd has said she and her family are missing her home town in a social media Q&A session with fans.

And the 27-year-old star has also revealed she is working on exciting new music during lockdown.

The singer and rapper, who grew up in Malvern and attended the Chase School and Dyson Perrins CE Academy, became a superstar almost overnight at the age of 16 after reaching the final of the X Factor in 2010.

She went on to release a string of hit albums and singles, including her debut Swagger Jagger which shot to the top of the UK singles chart back in 2011.

But the singer has shown she hasn't forgotten her roots, and admitted that she and daughter Delilah-Rae were missing Malvern.

Asked by a fan if she was missing the Worcestershire town she said: "Yeah we do. We love being in Malvern."

In the Q&A fans also asked what she has been up to during lockdown, to which she replied: "I have been trying to keep as busy as possible, which isn't hard with a toddler, but watching new shows, listening to music, cooking new recipes and all that good stuff."

Another fan asked the star if there could be new music from her on the way, to which she replied: "Yes, I have some exciting stuff coming up soon that I can't wait to share with you all."

In an interview with The Sun newspaper last year the singer spoke about how her early years in the industry were tough, when the "dream turned into a little bit of nightmare," as she faced daily online abuse, including racism and death threats.

"I was a naive 16-year-old, who came from such a small shielded town where bad things didn’t happen," the Want U Back singer said.

"When it came to the world of showbiz and gossip, that’s when it started to crumble."

But she also said in the interview that she credits husband Craig Monk as the one to help her move on, saying "I don’t think I would have made it out if it wasn’t for him".

The star also spoke on how her life has now changed in recent times, juggling being a mum with making new music.
