THE city's infection dropped by more than a quarter in a week according to the latest coronavirus figures.

Worcester's infection rate was 498.9 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 22 according to Public Health England.

A total of 505 cases were recorded in the week.

The city's rate dropped by more than a quarter when compared to the previous week's figures.

It is the first time the infection rate in Worcester has dropped below 500 since January 1.

The highest infection rate in Worcester was in Ronkswood and Nunnery Wood which had a rate of 671.8 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 22.

A total of 44 cases were recorded dropping by a third on the previous week.

The second highest infection rate was in Lyppard Grange which had a rate of 563.9 cases per 100,000 people.

Worcestershire's infection rate was 411.6 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 22.

A total of 2,452 cases were recorded in the week.

The county's infection rate dropped by 22 per cent compared to the previous week's figures.

Wychavon's infection rate in the week up to January 22 was 381.7 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 494 cases were recorded in the week.

Malvern's infection rate was 259.2 cases per 100,000 people in the same week.

A total of 204 cases were recorded in Malvern in the week.

The highest infection rate in Worcestershire remains in Redditch which had a rate of 633.3 cases per 100,000 people. A total of 540 cases were recorded.

Bromsgrove's infection rate was 394.5 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 22 with a total of 394 cases recorded.

The infection rate in Wyre Forest was 311 cases per 100,000 people with 315 cases recorded in the week up to January 22.
