THERE has been one new coronavirus related death recorded across Worcestershire's hospitals today (Sunday) with a death also recorded yesterday.

The latest figures, announced by the NHS today (Sunday, February 21), show one new coronavirus related death recorded at the Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust which manages the county's community hospitals.

This comes after a death at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS trust reported yesterday. The total number of deaths at the acute trust is now at 744. The death at the health and care trust reported today takes the total there to 57 deaths.

In total, there have been 801 Covid-19 deaths in county hospitals since the pandemic began.

A further 258 people, who tested positive for the coronavirus (Covid-19) have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 81,304.

Patients were aged between 29 and 101 years old. All except 17 (aged 52 to 100 years old) had known underlying health conditions.

Date of death ranges from December 10, 2020 to February 20, 2021 with the majority being on or after February 17.

Their families have been informed.

NHS England and NHS Improvement publish the number of patients who have died in hospital and tested positive for Covid-19 in England.

Since Tuesday. April 28, NHS England and NHS Improvement also reports the number of patient deaths where there has been no Covid-19 positive test result, but where Covid-19 is documented as a direct or underlying cause of death on part 1 or part 2 of the death certification process. This change has been introduced for deaths that occurred on April 24 and subsequently.
