A MUM of four says she was ‘shocked and overwhelmed’ by the ‘amazing’ half term package she was given by a Worcester school.

Chloe Milton, a parent of four children who attend Oasis Academy Warndon, shared her surprise and delight in a Facebook post which has received over 2,000 likes.

Miss Milton said: “The school were making up holiday packages for families and called to offer me one. They said there were a few fun things for the children to enjoy through the holidays but I wasn’t expecting much. I was gobsmacked at how much they gave me.

“We’re not the worst off family but time to time things can be tight – I’m sure it’s the same for a lot of people. I was extremely grateful and didn’t expect it at all. We’re still receiving the free school meal vouchers as well, I was really shocked. It felt so overwhelming and I felt I didn’t deserve this as there must be people worse off than us. The school have done amazingly and helped many families. Always ask for help and don’t be embarrassed! With the current climate times are really hard for everyone”

Oasis Warndon Hub, part of Oasis Academy Warndon, received funding from Ready Steady Worcestershire to provide 30 hampers to families for the half term break.

Fay Osborne, community hub leader, said: “The half-term hampers demonstrate how the whole community has pulled together throughout the pandemic to help one another. We had lots of people contributing to the hampers including past pupils and families to provide craft packs, pre loved games, freshly baked goods, fresh veg & handmade menu cards. A team of volunteers came together before half term to prepare all of the hampers and we are so grateful to everybody that helped to make this possible. The feedback that we have had from families who have received them has been great, it’s fabulous to know that the children have loved the activities and found the food helpful during this time”.

Naomi Cooke, deputy principal, added: “We are absolutely thrilled to be able to provide such a comprehensive level of support to our families as well as exceptional education for our pupils. It is a pleasure to see how our pupils flourish and build on the foundations that Oasis Academy Warndon has given them. We are privileged to be part of such a fantastic community."
