THE city's coronavirus infection rate has now dropped to one of the lowest in the county.

Worcester's infection rate has fallen to 125.5 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to February 21 the second lowest in Worcestershire behind Bromsgrove.

The city's rate dropped by 15 per cent compared to the previous week's figures according to Public Health England.

Worcester's infection rate has been falling steadily since reaching a peak of 815 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to January 8.

Worcestershire's rate increased slightly by two per cent to 142.3 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 848 cases were recorded in the week in the county.

The infection rate in Malvern Hills has continued to increase and was 136 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to February 21 - a rise of more than 27 per cent on the previous week.

A total of 107 cases were recorded in Malvern Hills in the week.

Wychavon's infection rate fell slightly by seven per cent compared to the previous week and had an infection rate of 129.8 cases per 100,000 people.

A total of 168 cases were recorded in Wychavon - which includes Evesham, Pershore and Droitwich - in the week.

The highest infection rate in Worcestershire was in Redditch which had an infection rate of 227.5 cases per 100,000 people in the week up to February 21.

As many as 194 cases were recorded in Redditch in the week.

The lowest infection rate in the county was in Bromsgrove.

The infection rate in Bromsgrove was 109.1 cases per 100,000 people with 109 cases recorded in the week.

Wyre Forest's infection rate was 141.2 cases per 100,000 people with 143 cases recorded in the week.
