MORE than 40 properties near Red Hill in Worcester could suffer disruption to electricity supply tonight (Monday).

Western Power Distribution reports that up to 47 addresses on Liverpool Road and Guildford Close near the Perry Wood Nature Reserve could be affected after two properties reported problems.

It is estimated full service will not be resumed until 9.30pm tonight.

It is listed as a low-voltage incident, which “tends to be smaller, more localised and could be why some of your neighbours still have power”.

Western Power Distribution (WPD) confirmed: "Two customers are without electricity as a result of an underground cable fault in the WR5 area.

"There is currently a team of engineers from Western Power Distribution on site. They are digging to locate and repair the fault.

"We may have to interrupt supplies to the other 45 customers who are connected to the same underground cable which has faulted in order to facilitate the repair.

"We don’t yet know if this will be necessary as we are still identifying the exact location of the fault.

"We expect supplies to be restored by 9.30pm at the latest and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
