MALVERN pop singer Cher Lloyd has posted a special message for her dad on his birthday saying she can't wait to give him a "big hug soon".

The singer and rapper, who grew up in Malvern and attended the Chase School and Dyson Perrins CE Academy, posted the message for dad Darren on her Instagram account earlier.

Sharing a picture from her childhood, showing her with dad Darren and mum Dina, the 27-year-old wrote: "Happy Birthday Dad.

"We love you and miss you so so much. We can't wait to give you a big hug as soon as it's safe to do so."

The Swagger Jagger singer ended the message with a heart and party emojis.

Last year we reported that she wrote another message thanking NHS staff for taking care of Darren, who suffers from pre-existing health conditions, when he was in hospital.

During the first lockdown last May, she wrote: "My dad has been seriously unwell and is in hospital. This has been really difficult on us and my heads all over the place.

"I wish I could see him, and I wish I could be with my family to support them, especially mum.

"I'm so grateful to the doctors and nurses for looking after him."

The popstar's songs Goodnight and Sirens both mention Darren, and she has a tattoo that says Daddy.

The star, who came to fame in 2010 when she finished fourth in the X Factor, has also recently been sharing pictures of life in lockdown with her husband Craig Monk and daughter Delilah-Rae, including one taken on a walk near Avoncroft Museum in Bromsgrove.
