A NEW coronavirus testing site has opened its doors in Malvern.

The new centre at Malvern Library, has opened for people to walk in and get their results in around 30 minutes.

This means the town now has two testing sites, the library site and at Victoria Road Car Park, which is for people who have Covid-19 symptoms and need a pre-booked appointment.

The walk-in site has been opened up to allow anyone who needs to leave their home for work to get a test and is designed to help find people who have contracted Covid-19 but are not showing any symptoms.

West Worcestershire MP Harriett Baldwin visited the new centre and chatted to staff.

The site is open five days a week while the library is open.

Harriett said: “Worcestershire County Council is doing a great job offering more and more testing capacity which will allow people to have certainty about their health – especially those who are having to go into workplaces.

“Many more people have been vaccinated and more testing capacity is playing a crucial part of the plan to allow the economy to re-open and facilitate the return of many parts of our normal lives.

“The lateral flow test is quick and easy and I got my result in only a matter of minutes.

“I’m urging people who need to mix with others for work or those who plan to visit loved ones in care homes, to get into the habit of getting a covid test as we continue our battle to beat this virus.”
