A FUNDRAISING page has been set up in memory of a much-loved and well respected senior fire officer who died earlier this month.

Stu Crebbin, who was a commander for Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service, lost his cancer battle, and now a special page has been set up for friends and well wishers to donate to The Firefighters Charity, which was close to his heart.

On the day of Mr Crebbin’s funeral, the fire service shared a photo on social media of serving firefighters paying tribute outside Worcester Fire Station to their former colleague.

In a Facebook post, they said: “It’s apt that on this day of national reflection, Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service pay final respects to our friend and colleague Stu Crebbin, whose funeral was today.

“A mentor and leader, taken far, far too soon, his absence felt keenly by us all."

The JustGiving page has raised more than £2,000 for the charity, which provides support to current and former firefighters, as well as the families of firefighters who are no longer alive.

On the page, it says: “For Stu’s farewell ceremony, family have requested family flowers only.

“However, for those that would like to make a donation, following Stu’s own wishes, he requested any monies collected should be in aid of his chosen charity, ‘The Firefighters Charity.’

“Stu’s family would like to pass on their thanks for all of the support during this difficult time.”

In 2020, Mr Crebbin took part in a charity walk in Wales for the Firefighters Charity.

This was following his cancer diagnosis and his experience of PTSD, which he spoke candidly about.

He and his colleagues raised more than £11,000 for the charity while walking the ten peaks of the Brecon Beacons.

The challenge took place on August 10 and he supported the team at checkpoints and ferrying equipment as they covered 89 kilometres and ascended 4,800 metres to climb 10 peaks over a 24-hour period.

“This is a fantastic charity which is helping me and many others get through some extremely difficult times,” he said at the time.
